The Arts & Letters Committee strives to promote meaningful cultural awareness through its events such as book signings, Delta Red Carpet movie events, concerts and other activities that positively reflect our Sorority. The Arts & Letters Committee goal is to continue to promote cultural diversity and community involvement.
The Arts & Letters Committee also strives to nurture and empower young girls-placing them at the center of growth to become creative thinkers and to experience the world in a different way. The Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter uses power of the arts to enrich and positively inspire the lives of young women.
In 2013, a grant was awarded to the Chattanooga Alumnae Chapter by the City of Chattanooga for the Smart Girls Community Arts Program. SmART Girls was an initiative designed to expose 50 girls residing within the urban core of Chattanooga to local arts venues and resources that they do not attend due to financial limitation, faulty perceptions or other barriers. Participants toured, enjoyed performances and had hands-on experiences at The Bessie Smith Cultural Center, The Hunter Museum of American Art, The Chattanooga Symphony and Opera and Ballet Tennessee.
